What we say up front
OKTAN Agency is a French business based in Villiers-le-Bel, north of Paris. We have no office, address, ABN or representative in Australia, and we will not pretend otherwise. You work directly with an independent provider who designs, builds and delivers your project from France.
Building a brochure website or an online shop, or taking over an existing one, does not require anyone to be physically present. Calls take place by video, decisions are confirmed in writing, and you follow progress on a preview link that you can open at any time. This is already how we work with most of our clients in France.
If your project needs meetings on your premises, a visit to Australia is possible on quote, with the travel costs set out in advance. Given the distance, it only makes sense for a large project, and most web projects simply do not need it.
Working across the time difference
Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart are 8 to 10 hours ahead of Paris. The gap moves during the year because Europe and south-eastern Australia change their clocks in opposite seasons: 8 hours from April to early October, 10 hours from November to March, 9 hours for a few weeks in between. Brisbane, which keeps the same time all year, is 8 or 9 hours ahead; Adelaide 7.5 or 9.5 hours; Perth 6 or 7 hours.
We adapt to your schedule: live calls are set at times that suit your team, agreed in advance. Everything else happens in writing, with a useful side effect: feedback you send in your afternoon is often on the preview link by your next morning.
We plan the key moments of the project, such as the kick-off, design reviews and go-live, as scheduled calls, and keep the rest asynchronous. You can book a free 30-minute discovery call directly from our contact page.
Language, quotes and invoicing
Projects with Australian clients are run in English: calls, written exchanges, quotes and handover documents.
Every project starts with a detailed quote that sets out the scope, deliverables, milestones, estimated lead times and price. The order is firm once the quote is accepted in writing and the deposit is paid. Our full terms of sale apply.
Prices are shown and invoiced in euros, never in Australian dollars, so the amount on your invoice is exactly the amount on your quote; your bank converts it when you pay. VAT not applicable (article 293 B of the French General Tax Code). The tax arrangements that apply to your business in Australia are set out on the quote.
Outside France, we work with businesses only. We do not accept orders from consumers.
The Australian rules your website has to respect
Two federal laws shape most of the technical choices on an Australian business website.
Privacy: the Privacy Act 1988 and its 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) apply to Australian Government agencies, to organisations with an annual turnover of more than $3 million, and to some smaller organisations. APP 1 requires a clearly expressed, up-to-date privacy policy, available free of charge, usually on the website. From 10 December 2026, entities that use personal information in automated decisions that could significantly affect individuals must also describe them in that policy. Since 10 June 2025, a statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy lets individuals go to court directly, and it reaches beyond the organisations covered by the APPs. The regulator is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Accessibility: the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) makes it unlawful to discriminate against people with disability in the provision of goods, services and facilities, which includes websites and online shops. In April 2025, the Australian Human Rights Commission published new guidelines on equal access to digital goods and services, recommending WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the minimum. See our page on website accessibility in Australia.
We deliver the technical implementation: a privacy page structured around what your site really does, when your site uses analytics or advertising tags, a consent banner that keeps them off until the visitor chooses, and accessible templates and journeys. We do not give legal advice, and your legal texts remain your responsibility or that of your adviser.
What Australian businesses ask us for most
A brochure website that loads fast, that you edit yourself from your browser, with no subscription and no hosting cost whatever your traffic.
A Shopify or WooCommerce online shop, or the redesign of an existing shop without losing the search rankings it has earned.
An accessibility audit against WCAG, followed by technical fixes on a separate quote.
A website audit before deciding on a redesign, with a prioritised roadmap.
Search engine optimisation and paid campaigns on Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest.
Business process automation with n8n, Make or Zapier, which keeps working around the clock whatever the time zone.
The sites we build are static files served by a global network with points of presence in Australia, so they load quickly for your visitors even though we are on the other side of the world. The domain name, hosting account and content stay in your name from the first day to the last. Prices for each service and our packages are on our pricing page.
What we do not promise
We do not guarantee a search ranking, a sales figure or legal compliance. A website built with care makes compliance much easier to achieve and to demonstrate, but compliance also depends on how you run your business, what you do with the information you collect, and choices that only you can make.
If, after a first call, we think an Australian provider would serve you better, for instance because your project needs someone on site or on the phone during your business hours every day, we will tell you.

Frequently asked questions
Do you really work with businesses in Australia?
Yes. A website or online shop project does not need anyone on site: calls are held by video, decisions are confirmed in writing, and you follow progress on a preview link. We work with businesses only, not with consumers.
How do we talk if we are 8 to 10 hours apart?
Live calls at the end of your day, which is the start of ours, and everything else in writing. Feedback sent in your afternoon is usually handled before your next morning.
Can you come to Australia?
Yes, on quote. Our services are delivered remotely by default; if your project calls for a visit, it is planned in the quote with the travel costs set out in advance.
Why do you invoice in euros rather than Australian dollars?
Our business is in France and all our prices are set in euros. Invoicing in euros means the amount on your invoice is exactly the one on your quote, with no exchange rate applied by us. The tax arrangements for your business are set out on the quote.
Will my website comply with the Privacy Act and the DDA?
We build the technical side properly: privacy page matching what the site does, consent for analytics and advertising tags, WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility. Compliance also depends on how you run your business, so we do not guarantee it, and we do not give legal advice.
